Well, the rumors are over. Google has historically named the Android operating system using a letter of the alphabet and a name that begins with that letter. The most recent version of the Android OS is O or Oreo. Prior to that it was N or Nougat. Google has announce that the final consumer-ready version of the new operating system is Android P. As reported by Ars Technica, it has a final name: the version number is "9" (not "9.0"), and we know what the "P" stands for: "Pie."
