It's all about security. We need to protect our information from prying eyes, including those of our own government. One way to help that effort is encrypting traffic as we surf the Internet. Google reports that 64% of Chrome traffic on Android, 75% on Mac and 66% on Windows is now protected with HTTPS. Only 42% of Chrome traffic on Android was protected last year. Google also notes that 71 of the top 100 websites now use HTTPS by default, up from 37 percent a year ago. Let's hope more and more sites force encrypted connections.
