Users of Google's G Suite have enjoyed real-time collaboration for some time. Now, Excel for Windows users can have the same experience. Microsoft calls it co-authoring. In order to take advantage of the co-author feature now, you must participate in the Office insider program. In addition, the file needs to reside on OneDrive, OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online. Mac users aren't part of the program, but support is planned for the future.
