I just got back from ABA TECHSHOW, where security issues were a dominant topic. I lost count of the number of people that came up to me and asked "What are the top two or three things I should do to protect my data?" One of the items I mentioned was staying up to date with any patches for your operating system and applications.
The keynote speech by Cindy Cohn and a plenary session certainly highlighted the need to secure your communications methods. Apple has been front and center in the news over the security of its iPhone. A recent report focuses on the insecurity of its iMessage app. Apparently, the encryption can be cracked, making iMessage communications vulnerable to interception. The good news is that the vulnerability impacts older versions of iOS. That means you need to make sure you've applied the latest updates to be safe.
